The Lee County High School Media Center is the largest classroom in the school and is centrally located between the 300 and 400 halls. Everyone can find something that they enjoy doing in the media center, whether it is reading, participating in hands-on activities, creating projects, studying, or collaborating with their peers.
| Books - All of the fiction and non-fiction books are arranged by genre, including: Narrative Non-Fiction, Fantasy, Historical, Mystery, Horror, Realistic, Romance, Science Fiction, Classics, and Graphic Novels. New books are added each week, and students are encouraged to suggest books that are not already in the collection. Click here to access the online library. | |
| Other Resources - In addition to the fiction collection, there are also non-fiction and reference books, magazines, STEAM and non-STEAM makerspace activities, an Apple TV, chromebooks, zSpace 3D computers, ipads, board games, a green screen for creating movies and images, a large touchscreen display, large and small whiteboards, a Breakout EDU box, and a free phone charging station. | |
| Online Resources - The media center is proud to offer many resources through GALILEO, Georgia's Virtual Library. GALILEO offers users access to hundreds of “paid for” resources where a user can search for information and articles on thousands of topics. You will need a password to access GALILEO if you are using a computer anywhere other than at school. The password is available in the media center. | |
| Plenty of Space - Every area in the media center is student-centered. The tables and chairs are on wheels, allowing for easy collaboration, while the tall cafe tables and stools are convenient for studying and using technology. The sofa, ottomans, and upholstered chairs that are in the back corner are perfect for reading or relaxing. | |
| Join Us - Students are welcome to use the media center’s resources before school, after school, or throughout the day with a pass from their teacher. Please make sure you sign in when you enter the media center and show your pass to one of the Library Ladies. | |
| Printing - There is a color printer that students may use for $.25 a page and a black and white printer that is $.05 per page. Students may have up to 3 books checked out at a time. Books are due back 10 school days after they are checked out, and may be renewed as long as no one else has the book on hold. Fines for overdue books are $.05 per day, to a maximum of $5 per book, and students must pay for any lost or damaged books. | |
| Finding Books - The LCHS Media Center uses the Follett Destiny library system and has an online search engine, allowing students to search for books using any Internet-connected computer. Searches may be done by book title, author’s name, subject, or keyword. |
